Kira Boyer, Rajeev Bhayro, and Akemi Sato live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Living on the California coast, they have a special connection to the plastic pollution crisis of our oceans. Pollution is an ever-present, conspicuous, problem that is causing great concern in their lives and the lives of many who live on the coastlines.
In Plastic Present, these artists recognize the plastic pollution epidemic as a form that many will recognize; a pet-store bagged fish. In these plastic confinements, most fish will die before being sold, only knowing their plastic confinements; their tiny oceans. A projected cycle of life and death begins within these plastic confinements. Much like the deadly cycle of single-use plastic bags as they suffocate our oceans.
